What a telecalling app is
In India, a telecalling app usually means software that sits on the phones of your telecallers. The owner uploads or syncs leads, the app assigns them across the team, and each telecaller sees a queue: tap to call, mark the outcome, set a follow-up date. Some apps record calls, show a manager dashboard and sync with a CRM or a Google Sheet.
For a small business with two to five telecallers that previously worked from a shared Excel file, this is a real step up. Leads stop going missing, follow-ups stop being forgotten and the owner can see who called whom. The question is what the app cannot change.
What mobile telecalling apps do well, and where they stop
| Need | Telecalling app | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Lead assignment and queues | Strong: round-robin, filters, status tags | Still needs people to work the queue |
| One-tap dialling | Strong | One call at a time per telecaller |
| Call logging and notes | Good, but the telecaller enters the outcome | Quality depends on the person typing |
| Follow-up reminders | Good | A reminder is not a call; someone must still ring |
| Speed on a new lead | Depends on who is free | Leads arriving at night or on Sunday wait |
| Language coverage | Whatever your hires speak | A Tamil lead assigned to a Hindi speaker is lost |
| Scaling a campaign | Hire and train more people | Cost and attrition grow with volume |
Everything in the right-hand column comes from the same fact: the app makes humans more organised, but the capacity is still human. If a Meta lead ad delivers 400 enquiries on a Saturday, the queue grows faster than five people can empty it.
How an AI calling agent differs
An AI calling agent is not an app on a telecaller's phone. It is the telecaller. Outpero's AI employee dials, holds a natural conversation, asks your qualifying questions and writes up the outcome. You manage it from a self-serve dashboard at app.outpero.com, not by issuing phones and SIM cards.
- —Instant lead calling: a new enquiry from Meta lead ads, Google Ads forms, your website or IndiaMART and JustDial via Zapier, Make or webhook is rung within 30 seconds.
- —Bulk campaigns: an AI conversation with every number on a CSV, with scheduling, calling windows, auto-retries, callbacks and DND screening.
- —Inbound: it answers calls to your business number 24/7 and remembers returning callers.
- —Aftermath: recording, transcript, summary, sentiment and custom fields, with a call log that shows the credits each call used.
It is not a dialer for your own staff: it does not turn your employees' personal phones into a calling tool. If you want your humans to keep dialling by hand, a telecalling app is the right product and Outpero is not.
A hybrid that many small teams end up with
Hear it on a real call before you read further?
The strongest setups split the work. The AI handles first calls, reminders, confirmations and unanswered redials, in the customer's language. Your telecallers then receive only the people who said yes or asked for a human, with the summary already written. Call transfer to your team is a real feature, and you can set the agent to flag requests it should not handle.

Cost: telecaller plus app versus AI minutes
A telecalling app is typically priced per user per month, and you still pay the telecaller. A human telecaller in India costs roughly ₹15,000–₹25,000 a month; ₹18,000 is the reference figure. Outpero has no setup fee, no monthly base fee and no contract. You pay ₹5 per connected minute on Standard or ₹6.8 on Premium, from prepaid credits that never expire.
| Team | Arithmetic | Monthly figure |
|---|---|---|
| 3 telecallers at the reference salary | 3 × ₹18,000 | ₹54,000 before any app fee |
| The same ₹54,000 as Standard AI minutes | ₹54,000 ÷ ₹5 | 10,800 connected minutes |
| The same ₹54,000 as Premium AI minutes | ₹54,000 ÷ ₹6.8 | About 7,941 connected minutes |
| Dedicated +91 number with 1 channel | Flat | ₹649 |
| Three simultaneous calls | ₹649 + 2 × ₹649 | ₹1,947 a month for 3 channels |
Prices exclude 18% GST. This is not saying three telecallers equal 10,800 minutes of work; people do things an agent does not. It shows the scale of the trade-off, and the 50 free credits at signup let you try it before comparing.
Languages and compliance
Regional language is where many telecalling teams struggle in practice. Outpero is the specialist in regional-language voice AI: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and Indian English, moving to English when the caller does. Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia, Urdu and Assamese are not supported.
TRAI's rules apply equally to human and AI calling: DLT registration for commercial senders, no promotional calls to numbers on the DND registry and daytime calling hours. Outpero calls from a DLT-registered line and screens bulk lists against DND. Consent and the DPDP Act 2023 remain your responsibility.
How to choose
- —Fewer than 100 leads a month and a team that answers fast: a simple telecalling app or even a sheet is enough.
- —Leads arrive out of hours or in bursts: an AI agent removes the wait.
- —Your customers speak several languages: count how many your telecallers cover before you add more hires.
- —You need relationship calls and negotiation: keep humans, with or without an app, and let the AI qualify first.
- —Ask any telecalling app how it handles recording, data ownership when a telecaller leaves and export of your lead data.
The two are not enemies. Many businesses use an app for their human callers and an AI agent for the first touch.
