What a good AI voice agent demo should show
A polished demo recording proves little. Anyone can script a clean call with a cooperative speaker. What you need to see is how the agent behaves when the caller is noisy, interrupts, changes language mid-sentence, goes quiet or asks something off script, because those moments are most of real calling.
A demo should therefore answer five questions: does it sound natural in your language, does it respond quickly, does it cope with interruptions, does it stick to your facts, and does it leave you a useful record of the call.
Three kinds of demo, and what each proves
| Demo type | What you get | What it proves | What it hides |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-recorded sample | A polished call to listen to | The best case voice quality | How it handles a real, messy caller |
| Sales demo call | The vendor's script on a call to you | That the product works end to end | Whether it works with your script and facts |
| Your own trial | Real calls on your script to numbers you control | Everything you will actually depend on | Nothing, if you test it properly |
Outpero is built around the third kind. There is no sales call to schedule first: you sign up at app.outpero.com, receive 50 free credits with no card, set up an AI employee and call your own team.
How to run your own demo in an afternoon
- 01Sign up and take the 50 free credits. That is roughly ten minutes of Standard calls, or seven of Premium.
- 02Write the real script: who is calling, why, the three questions you want answered, and what happens at the end.
- 03Add your facts: pricing, timings, address, and what the agent must never promise.
- 04Upload a short CSV of numbers you control, or use instant calling on a test enquiry.
- 05Answer as a real customer would, then answer again as a difficult one.
- 06Open the transcript, summary and captured fields. Judge them as you would a new hire's call notes.
What to listen for
- —Opening: does it say who it is and why it is calling in the first sentence, and does it sound like a person speaking, not reading?
- —Latency: the gap between you finishing and the agent speaking. Outpero runs at 0.8 to 1.3 seconds on average end to end; anything much slower feels like a bad line.
- —Interruptions: talk over it mid-sentence and see whether it stops and listens.
- —Language switching: start in Telugu, drop in English words, then switch fully to English. The agent should follow in the same voice.
- —Accuracy: ask for a price, a timing or a policy it was given, and one it was not given. It should answer the first and say it will check on the second.
- —Ending: does it confirm what was agreed, and does a human transfer happen when you ask for one?

Use lines like these as the starting point for your own test. Each mixes English words the way real callers do.

Hello, this is Urban Nest calling. You enquired about the two-bedroom in Gachibowli; is a site visit this weekend convenient for you?
What your demo will cost, with the arithmetic
The 50 free credits are worth ₹50. At Standard's ₹5 per connected minute that is ten minutes; at Premium's ₹6.8 per minute it is about seven. Unanswered calls are not billed, so a ring that goes nowhere costs nothing. Credits never expire, and there is no setup fee or subscription. Prices exclude 18% GST.
| Test | Working | Credits used |
|---|---|---|
| 5 test calls of 1 minute, Standard | 5 x 1 x ₹5 | 25 |
| 5 test calls of 1 minute, Premium | 5 x 1 x ₹6.8 | 34 |
| 3 calls of 2 minutes on Standard, 2 of 1 minute on Premium | 3 x 2 x ₹5 + 2 x 1 x ₹6.8 = ₹30 + ₹13.60 | 43.6, inside the 50 free |
Compare Standard and Premium on the same script. Standard has more expressive voices for everyday sales and support and is the most chosen. Premium is the most lifelike, for calls where the voice is the brand. The call log shows the credits each call used, so you can price a month from real numbers.
Compliance when you test
Test calls to your own staff and colleagues are not promotional campaigns, but get their consent first and tell them it is an AI. When you move to real customers, TRAI's Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations, 2018 apply: DLT-registered calling, DND screening for promotional calls, and consent where it is required. Outpero's calling line is DLT-registered and bulk campaigns screen against DND.
How to compare demos across vendors
- —Use the same script and the same test callers for every vendor.
- —Score each on language quality, latency, interruption handling, accuracy and call record, out of five.
- —Ask each vendor for the price of the 100th call, not only the first.
- —Read the transcripts side by side; the differences show up in what the agent got wrong.
A demo shows how the agent talks, not how your customers will answer. Run a small live batch of real leads before scaling, watch connect rate and outcomes for a week, and adjust the script. Outpero does not publish conversion figures because results depend on your offer and list.
