Delivery Address Confirmation Calls
A delivery address confirmation call phones the customer right after an order is placed or before dispatch, reads back the address and landmark, and corrects it on the spot. Outpero places it instantly when a new order arrives or in bulk on the day's dispatch list, in the customer's own language, and records the confirmed address so the first delivery attempt succeeds.
* Time from the lead reaching Outpero to the first ring, under normal conditions. It depends on how quickly your lead source delivers the lead.

Why delivery address confirmation calls breaks when people do it
Indian addresses are hard for couriers and for software. Entries such as near the temple, behind the old bus stand or flat number missing are common, pincodes are mistyped and customers use a different phone number at checkout than the one at home. Each failed first attempt costs the seller another delivery charge and a day, and often ends in a return to origin. Customer care teams call to confirm only a fraction of orders because the volume is high and the calls are repetitive.
Step by step
How it works
- 01A new order arrives from your store, or you upload the day's dispatch list, with name, number, address, pincode and order value.
- 02The agent calls shortly after the order is placed, or in a morning batch before dispatch, and greets the customer in their language.
- 03It reads back the address in short parts and asks the customer to confirm or correct the house number, landmark and pincode.
- 04It asks for the best time to deliver, whether someone will be home and an alternative contact if needed.
- 05The confirmed address, delivery window and any change are written to your webhook or sheet, and the courier booking can be released only for confirmed orders.

A sample delivery address confirmation calls call
A Hyderabad online furniture store calls a customer shortly after a new prepaid order is placed, before the courier is booked. · Runs in Telugu with English words such as 'pincode', 'landmark' and 'security'; shown here in English.
- Outpero AIHello, this is Outpero's AI assistant calling for HomeNest Furniture. Am I speaking with Anjali?
- CallerYes, I am Anjali.
- Outpero AIAnjali ji, I am calling to confirm the delivery address for your order of a study table. The address we have is Plot 42, Madhapur, Hyderabad, pincode 500081. Is that correct?
- CallerNo, that is my old address. I have moved to a flat in Kondapur.
- Outpero AIThank you for telling me. Could you tell me the new address, flat number first?
- CallerFlat 304, Sri Sai Residency, near Botanical Garden, Kondapur. Pincode is 500084.
- Outpero AILet me repeat it: Flat 304, Sri Sai Residency, near Botanical Garden, Kondapur, 500084. Is that right?
- CallerYes. Please deliver in the evening, I will not be home in the day.
- Outpero AIEvening delivery noted. If you are not home, can the security guard receive it, or should the courier call another number?
- CallerCall my husband on 98480 12345 if I do not pick up.
Captured: address not confirmed as originally entered, corrected address (Flat 304, Sri Sai Residency, near Botanical Garden, Kondapur), pincode 500084, preferred delivery time evening, alternate contact number given, order not cancelled. The corrected record was sent to the webhook and sheet, so the courier is booked only for the confirmed address.

How the trigger reaches Outpero
| Where it comes from | How it gets to the agent |
|---|---|
| Shopify, WooCommerce or other store | A webhook or Zapier scenario sends each new order with name, number, address and pincode to Outpero as it is placed. |
| Daily dispatch list | Your warehouse team exports the day's orders awaiting dispatch as a CSV and uploads it for a morning batch of calls. |
| Orders sheet | The agent reads the order's address from a Google Sheet and writes the corrected address and delivery window back into it. |
| Courier booking step | Your own automation reads the confirmed flag from the webhook and releases the courier booking only for orders marked confirmed. |
| Alternate contact for the courier | The extra phone number captured on the call is posted to your webhook so it reaches the delivery partner with the order. |
Results go back out the same way: a webhook you provide, or a live spreadsheet or API call mid-call. WhatsApp messages and calendar bookings are opt-in per employee.

Run it well
What to track — and what goes wrong
| Track | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Orders with a corrected address | Track how many orders change, and look at the pincodes involved, to find where your checkout form is letting wrong data in. |
| Unreachable customers | Unanswered calls after retries mark orders to hold or confirm by WhatsApp before you ship. |
| Failed first deliveries | Compare failed first attempts for confirmed and unconfirmed orders in your courier reports to see if confirmation is paying off. |
| Cancellations during the call | A burst of cancellations at this step usually means the delivery time or fee was not clear at checkout. |
- !Reading the whole address in one long sentence, so the customer says yes without really listening.
- !Booking the courier before the confirmation result reaches your system.
- !Not capturing the pincode separately, which is where most wrong deliveries come from.
- !Calling during the customer's working hours when evening delivery is the real preference.
Not worth it for stores whose customers are always at the same address, or for orders under a value where a failed delivery costs little. A WhatsApp address check may be enough there.
Questions people ask
When should the address confirmation call go out?
+
For cash on delivery and high-value orders, call straight after the order is placed so any correction reaches the courier before dispatch. For prepaid orders with a standard cut-off, a morning batch on the dispatch day is enough. You can use instant calls, a bulk list or both, and the same address data can feed an order-confirmation call.
How does the agent record a corrected address?
+
It reads the address back in short parts and captures what the customer says as fields: house or flat number, landmark, locality and pincode. The transcript is kept as evidence, and the structured fields go to your webhook or sheet. Your system can then update the order before it is handed to the courier.
Can it also reduce return-to-origin on COD orders?
+
Confirming address and intent on the call is one of the most effective ways to cut failed deliveries. If the customer says they no longer want the order, the agent records the cancellation. A separate use case, COD order confirmation, covers the buying intent. Many sellers combine both questions in one short call.
Does it work in local languages and with local place names?
+
Yes. It speaks Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and Indian English and switches to English for words such as flat, apartment or landmark. Local place names are heard and transcribed, but always read the confirmed address back to the customer before it is saved, since pronunciation of small localities can vary.
How much does each confirmation call cost?
+
A typical confirmation takes 30 to 45 seconds. At 45 seconds on Standard at ₹5/min, each call costs about ₹3.75, with no setup fee, and unanswered calls are not billed. If one avoided failed delivery saves a courier charge and a return, the call usually pays for itself. Prices exclude 18% GST.
How much does an AI voice agent for delivery address confirmation calls cost?
+
Outpero has no setup fee and no monthly base fee — you pay only for connected talk time, from ₹5 per minute (1 credit = ₹1, credits never expire), plus ₹649/month for a dedicated calling number. You pay only for the minutes the agent is actually talking. Prices exclude 18% GST.
