How do I get my team to trust leads qualified by AI?
Show them the evidence. Give the team the recording, transcript and summary for every lead the AI passes on, let them check a sample against what was actually said, and fix the script when they find errors. Trust follows accuracy they can verify for themselves, not an instruction from management to believe in the tool.
Why teams doubt AI-qualified leads
Salespeople have been burned by bad leads before, from portals, agencies and junior telecallers. A lead labelled qualified by software looks like more of the same. If the first three they call are wrong numbers or curious browsers, the whole system is written off, whatever the later numbers say.
Give them the proof, not the pitch
- —Attach the recording, transcript and summary to every lead so a salesperson can hear what the customer said before calling
- —Show the exact fields the AI captured, such as budget, timeline or preferred date
- —Let the team listen to a handful of calls in the first week and mark each lead right or wrong
- —Share the result of that check openly, including the failures
Agree what qualified means
Disagreement is often about the definition, not the AI. Write the qualifying questions with the sales team: what budget, what timeline, what intent counts. If the team helps define the bar, the AI is applying their standard rather than someone else's.
Close the feedback loop
- 01Ask the team to flag any lead that was wrongly qualified, with a one-line reason
- 02Review the flags weekly and change the script or the questions
- 03Tell the team what changed, so they see their feedback matter
- 04Track the share of AI-passed leads that sales agrees are real, and publish the number internally
Protect people from the worst case
Early on, route a small share of leads to a second check or let senior salespeople take the first AI leads. Do not let incentives punish the team for chasing leads the AI got wrong; that is the script's fault, not theirs.
Be honest that the AI will sometimes miss. Outpero records every call and writes a summary and sentiment, which makes errors easy to find, but it does not make them disappear. A team that can see and fix the mistakes tends to accept the tool sooner than one told it is accurate.
