Why are my leads not picking up calls?
Leads usually stop picking up for a handful of fixable reasons: the call comes too long after the enquiry, the number looks unknown or is flagged as spam, the timing clashes with work or commute, the leads were low-intent or fake, or the same number has called too often. Check lead age and caller ID first; they are the most common culprits and the quickest to fix.
A diagnostic checklist
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Pickups fall the longer leads sit | Slow first call | Call within minutes of the enquiry |
| Pickups dropped suddenly across all sources | Number reported as spam | Review retry volume and the opening line; use one registered number |
| Low pickups in specific hours | Bad calling window | Move the window; retry in other slots |
| One ad set or form performs far worse | Low-intent or accidental leads | Tighten the form; check targeting |
| Many wrong-person answers | Typos or fake numbers | Add verification on forms |
Lead quality problems
Meta's instant forms pre-fill name and number, which makes it easy to submit by accident while scrolling. Many of those people genuinely do not remember enquiring. Meta's higher-intent form option adds a review step that filters some of this out, at the cost of fewer leads. Website forms without OTP or basic bot protection collect junk numbers too.
Portal leads from IndiaMART, JustDial, 99acres or MagicBricks are often shared with several sellers. By the time a slow team calls, the buyer has already had three calls and stopped answering unknown numbers.
Caller ID problems
People in India screen calls aggressively, and caller ID apps show spam labels based partly on user reports. A number that dials thousands of people who never enquired, or calls the same person five times in a day, collects those reports quickly. Switching to a fresh number each time fixes nothing for long.
Timing problems
If most of your calls go out between 1 and 3 pm or after 8 pm, pickup will suffer. Export outcomes with timestamps and look for the hours where your audience answers.
Instant lead calling dials a new enquiry within 30 seconds, while the person still remembers filling the form. Calls go out on a DLT-registered line, a dedicated number is ₹649 a month, and bulk campaigns add calling windows, spaced retries and DND screening.
