Is there a lock-in contract for AI calling?
Some AI calling vendors require annual contracts or minimum monthly commitments, especially enterprise and managed-service providers. Outpero has no lock-in, no contract and no monthly base fee: you buy prepaid credits when needed, they never expire, and the only recurring charge is ₹649 a month for a dedicated number. If you pause calling, unused credits simply stay in the account. Prices exclude 18% GST.
Why vendors ask for commitments
Vendors that build custom scripts, integrations and voices for you invest effort up front and want to recover it over a fixed term. Some also offer lower per-minute rates in exchange for an annual minimum. These deals can be reasonable for large, steady programmes, such as a bank's renewal calls running all year.
The risk is paying for a commitment you no longer need: a campaign that underperforms, a change in lead sources, or a seasonal business with long quiet months.
Questions to ask before signing anything
- —What is the minimum term, and is there an auto-renewal clause?
- —Is there a minimum monthly spend, and what happens if usage falls short?
- —What is the notice period to exit?
- —Do prepaid minutes or credits expire at the end of the term?
- —Who owns the call recordings and transcripts if you leave, and can you export them?
How Outpero is structured
| Term | Outpero |
|---|---|
| Contract or lock-in | None |
| Setup fee | None |
| Monthly base fee | None |
| Talk time | ₹5 or ₹6.8 per connected minute |
| Credits | Prepaid, 1 credit = ₹1, never expire |
| Dedicated number | ₹649/month |
Call logs, leads and analytics can be exported as CSV, and every call is also sent to your webhook if you set one up, so your data is in your own systems as you go.
A sensible way to start
Use the 50 free signup credits to test, then top up a modest amount, for example ₹3,000, which is 600 minutes on Standard, for a first live campaign. Scale up only once the dashboard shows the calls are producing results. Without a contract, there is no penalty for deciding it is not the right fit.
Inbound works the same way: there is no separate contract to have the AI employee pick up calls to your business number. Those calls are billed on connected talk time from the same prepaid credits.
