How do prepaid credits work for AI calling?
Prepaid credits work like a mobile recharge: you top up the account, and each connected minute deducts credits at the voice tier's rate. On Outpero 1 credit equals ₹1, so ₹5,000 of credit buys 1,000 minutes on the Standard voice or about 735 on Premium. Credits never expire, and unanswered calls deduct nothing. Prices exclude 18% GST.
How deductions work
Each connected minute deducts credits equal to the tier rate in rupees: 5 credits a minute on Standard and 6.8 on Premium. Calls that ring out, are busy or are switched off deduct nothing. The deduction applies to outbound lead calls, bulk AI campaigns and inbound calls the AI employee picks up alike, because all of them are connected talk time.
What ₹5,000 of credit buys
| Tier | Minutes | 2-minute calls | 1-minute calls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard ₹5 | 1,000 | 500 | 1,000 |
| Premium ₹6.8 | about 735 | about 367 | about 735 |
Mixing tiers from one balance
One balance can fund different kinds of calls. Say a clinic runs 600 one-minute appointment reminders on Standard, using ₹3,000 of credit, and 300 two-minute new-enquiry calls on Premium, using ₹4,080. Together that is ₹7,080 drawn from the balance. Voice broadcast, used for one-way announcements, is billed at a lower rate than AI conversation minutes.
Why prepaid suits most Indian businesses
- —Spend is capped by what you top up, so there are no surprise invoices at month end.
- —There is no monthly base fee, so quiet months cost nothing in talk time.
- —Credits never expire, so a balance bought for one season carries into the next.
- —Budget approval is simple: a top-up is a single known amount.
Avoiding a mid-campaign stop
Before launching a bulk campaign, estimate its cost: numbers × expected connect rate × average minutes × rate. For 3,000 numbers at 50% connect and 2 minutes on Standard, that is 3,000 minutes, or ₹15,000 of credit. Top up a little above the estimate so calls do not pause halfway through a calling window.
The 50 free credits at signup are the same kind of credit, worth ₹50 of talk time for testing.
Watch credit use per campaign in the analytics after the first few days, and adjust the next top-up to match what the calls actually consume.

Follow-up questions
Is the dedicated number paid from credits?
+
The dedicated number is a separate monthly charge of ₹649, which includes compliance and carrier fees. Talk time is what credits pay for, at ₹5 or ₹6.8 per connected minute. Check the billing page in the app at app.outpero.com for how the number charge is collected on your account.
