What is Voice AI?

Voice AI is the family of technologies that let software understand spoken language and reply in synthesised speech, combining speech recognition, language understanding and text to speech. The same building blocks power dictation apps, smart speakers and phone agents. On a business phone call they are usually chained in a pipeline: ASR turns the caller's audio into text, a language model decides what to say, and TTS speaks the reply, though newer speech-to-speech models collapse some of those steps. In India the hard part is rarely any one component on its own; it is handling the way people actually talk on calls, with Hindi, Telugu or Tamil grammar carrying English nouns and numbers.

Voice AI matters commercially wherever the phone is still the channel customers respond to: lead follow-up, reminders, confirmations and collections.
