Best Voice Bot Platforms in India: Build, Buy or Hire (2026)

A voice bot platform for India should be judged on five things: Indian-language quality, India telephony and compliance, who does the building, the full bill, and how it hands off to a person. Outpero publishes this guide and is a finished AI employee rather than a toolkit, which suits businesses without engineers. Developer platforms, enterprise suites and telephony vendors each win in other situations, and this guide says where.

Disclosure

Outpero publishes this guide and sells one of the platforms compared here. Vendor facts come from each vendor's public website, checked on 14 October 2026, except Vapi, Bolna and Retell AI, checked on 30 July 2026. Where a vendor says something only in marketing copy, we label it a claim. Confirm current details on the vendor's site before you buy.

What a voice bot platform is

A voice bot platform is the software that lets a business run automated phone conversations: it listens to the caller, understands what was said, decides a reply, speaks it and records the outcome. A modern voice bot differs from an IVR, which plays a fixed menu and waits for a keypress or a keyword. A voice bot holds an open conversation and can answer a question nobody scripted.

Every platform assembles the same parts: speech recognition, a language model, speech synthesis and telephony. The real differences are who assembles them, how well they handle Indian languages and Indian phone lines, and what you are billed for. The glossary entries on ASR, TTS and speech-to-speech explain the parts.

The first decision: build, buy or hire

Platforms fall into five types. Choosing the type narrows the field more than any feature comparison.

TypeExamples in this guideWhat you getEffort and cost shape
Developer platformVapi, Bolna, Retell AI, Bland AIAn API or builder to assemble an agent onYour engineers choose models and handle India telephony; model and telephony costs often billed separately
Self-serve finished agentOutpero, Ringg AI, Vomyra, EchoLeadsA working agent you configure by describing the jobDays, not months; price per minute or flat monthly
Enterprise conversational AIGnani.ai, Haptik, Yellow.ai, Skit.ai, ConvinLarge programmes across channels, with compliance and deployment optionsDemo-led sales; pricing mostly unpublished; longer rollout
Telephony and contact centreExotel, Ozonetel, Knowlarity, MyOperatorNumbers, IVR, dialers, routing, plus a voice bot add-onStrong for human teams; AI priced on request or custom
Custom build and managed serviceZingaro AI, KriraAI, SquadStackA team that builds or runs the bot for youDiscovery, a pilot of several weeks, scoped or milestone pricing

Five criteria that matter in India

1. Indian-language quality, not language count

Headline counts are easy to inflate. Yellow.ai claims 500-plus voice languages, Haptik claims 100-plus and Bland claims 40-plus; Yellow.ai and Haptik name none of them, and Bland names only Hindi and English (India) among Indian ones. Count the ones you need, then test them. A bot must cope with Hinglish, Tenglish or Tanglish, where a caller changes language every few words, not only with clean single-language speech.

2. India telephony and compliance

A voice bot that calls Indian numbers must work with Indian carriers and rules: a DLT-registered line, DND screening for bulk calling, TRAI calling hours, and a clear AI disclosure. Several global platforms do not mention DLT on their public pages, including Bland, Synthflow and Yellow.ai. If your team must handle this, add engineering time to the cost. Not legal advice.

3. Who does the build

Vapi, Bolna and Retell AI give you the parts to build with. Bolna's own homepage lists 20-plus speech and language models you can choose from, which is real flexibility if you have engineers and a reason to tune each layer. A finished agent such as Outpero removes that choice, which saves time and removes control. Neither is wrong; they suit different teams.

4. The whole bill

Want to hear this working, not just read about it?

Vapi's headline is $0.05 a minute, but its pricing page states that speech, language model and voice provider costs are billed separately on top, with another $10 a month for each additional concurrent line. Bland lists $0.14 a minute on its Start tier, telephony billed separately. Outpero's rate is the whole bill per connected minute (₹5 Standard, ₹6.8 Premium, excluding 18% GST), with the number at ₹649 a month. Ask every vendor for the all-in cost of 1,000 minutes in rupees.

5. Handover and records

Look at what happens when the bot should stop. Does it transfer the call with context? Do you get a recording, transcript, summary and the fields you asked for, in a dashboard and at a webhook? Outpero transfers a call to your team when a person should take it and sends the results to your webhook. Exotel and MyOperator, built around human teams, are strong on monitoring and takeover.

Where each type is the better choice

  • —Developer platforms (Vapi, Bolna, Retell, Bland) suit a product company with engineers that wants to own the stack, tune models and embed voice in its own app.
  • —Enterprise suites (Gnani.ai, Haptik, Yellow.ai) suit banks, insurers and large support programmes needing deployment control, deep integrations and wide language lists, including Bengali, Gujarati and Punjabi in Gnani's case.
  • —Telephony vendors (Exotel, MyOperator, Ozonetel, Knowlarity) suit businesses whose people stay on the phone and need numbers, IVR and routing, with a voice bot as an extra.
  • —Custom builders and managed services (Zingaro AI, KriraAI, SquadStack) suit teams that want something bespoke or fully run for them and can wait for a pilot.
  • —A finished self-serve agent (Outpero, Ringg, Vomyra) suits a business without engineers that wants to be live this week.

Where Outpero fits, and where it does not

Outpero is a pan-India specialist in regional-language voice AI. It speaks to customers in the language they actually do business in (Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada and Malayalam, plus Indian English), including the English they mix in. The same per-minute price applies to every language. It runs on the Swara voice engine, from a Hyderabad base, and serves businesses across India.

It is a finished AI employee. You describe the job and it makes calls, holds the conversation and writes up the result, whether that is calling a new lead within 30 seconds, working through a bulk CSV with DND screening, answering your business number 24/7 or broadcasting a fixed message. It can book a calendar slot, read or write a spreadsheet, call your API, send a WhatsApp message and transfer to your team, and it remembers returning callers.

It is the wrong choice if you need Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia or Urdu, on-premise deployment, a platform to embed in your own product with full control of the models, or a contact-centre suite for human agents. In those cases the vendors above are better starting points.

A one-week bake-off

  1. 01Choose one job and write the five facts a successful call must capture.
  2. 02Pick three platforms across at least two types, for example a finished agent, a developer platform and an enterprise vendor.
  3. 03Use the same instructions and the same 20 real contacts, including some who switch language mid-sentence.
  4. 04Measure response time with a stopwatch on ten calls each, as described in our guide to latency.
  5. 05Check each transcript against the recording, and mark errors in names, numbers and dates, which cause the most damage.
  6. 06Test handover: ask for a person and see whether the call is transferred with context.
  7. 07Add up the real cost in rupees for 1,000 minutes, including telephony, the number, any model fees, setup time and GST.

The winner is rarely the one with the longest feature list. It is the one that completed the job on your list, in your customers' language, at a bill you can predict.

Frequently asked questions

What is a voice bot platform?

+

A voice bot platform is software that runs automated phone conversations: it listens, understands, decides a reply, speaks it and records the result. Unlike an IVR menu that waits for keypresses, a voice bot holds an open conversation. Platforms differ in whether you build the agent yourself or hire a finished one, and in how they handle Indian languages.

What is the difference between a voice bot and an IVR?

+

An IVR plays a fixed menu and routes callers by keypress or keyword, so it breaks when the caller says something unexpected. A voice bot understands free speech and can answer a question nobody scripted, in the caller's own words. Many businesses keep the IVR for routing and add a voice bot for conversations.

Which voice bot platform is best for a business without developers?

+

A finished self-serve agent suits it best, because you describe the job rather than assemble speech, language and telephony parts. Outpero, Ringg AI and Vomyra work this way, with different prices and language lists. Developer platforms such as Vapi, Bolna and Retell assume engineering effort, so they fit teams that already have it.

Do voice bot platforms support Indian languages?

+

Most claim to, but the depth varies. Outpero supports Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and Indian English, switching to English mid-sentence. Gnani.ai names nine Indian languages including Bengali, Gujarati and Punjabi, which Outpero does not support. Synthflow lists only Hindi. Test your own language mix on a shortlist rather than trusting a count.

How much does a voice bot platform cost in India?

+

Published prices range from about ₹5 to ₹6.8 a connected minute for self-serve agents like Outpero (before 18% GST), ₹6 at Ringg AI, and flat monthly plans from ₹15,000 at Vomyra, to dollar platform fees and unpublished enterprise quotes. Ask for the all-in cost of 1,000 minutes, including telephony, number and model fees.

Do I need DLT registration for a voice bot?

+

If the bot makes outbound calls in India, DLT registration of the calling line and DND screening are part of normal compliance, along with TRAI calling hours. Outpero uses a DLT-registered line and screens bulk campaigns against DND. Many global platforms do not address this on their public pages, so ask. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can I switch voice bot platforms later?

+

Yes, if you keep your data portable. Outpero exports call logs and leads as CSV and sends every call to your webhook, and credits never expire, so there is no lock-in. Before choosing any platform, check how you export recordings and transcripts and whether a contract or yearly billing ties you in.
