Punjabi AI voice agents
Outpero does not speak Punjabi yet. Today the agent can call Punjab leads in Hindi or Indian English — Hindi is widely understood across Punjab's cities — but it is not the right fit for customers who are only comfortable in Punjabi. Outpero's live languages are Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and English.

Why Punjabi is hard for voice AI
Punjabi is a tonal language — unusual among Indian languages — where pitch distinguishes words that otherwise sound alike, so a voice that gets tone wrong says the wrong word. It is written in Gurmukhi in India and Shahmukhi in Pakistan. Majhi, Doabi, Malwai and Puadhi speech differ across the state, and calls mix Punjabi, Hindi and English, especially around study visas, IELTS and loans.
What to use today
Outpero has no Punjabi voice today and does not claim one. What works now: urban callers in Ludhiana, Mohali, Jalandhar and Chandigarh are often comfortable in Hindi, and study-abroad applicants frequently prefer English. The Hindi agent switches to English when the caller does. For Punjabi-first rural callers, a human telecaller is still the better choice.
Outpero’s live languages are Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and English.
What a Punjabi call sounds like
“Sat Sri Akal ji, this is Priya from Global Visa Consultants — you filled a form for a Canada study visa. Could we talk for two minutes?”
Questions people ask
Can Outpero call Punjab leads in Punjabi?
+
Not yet. Outpero's live languages are Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and Indian English. In Punjab's cities many callers are comfortable in Hindi, and study-abroad and IELTS leads often prefer English, so those agents can call them today. For customers who expect Punjabi — especially in rural Malwa and Majha — keep a human on the call for now.
Is Hindi a reasonable substitute for Punjabi callers?
+
Often, in urban Punjab and Chandigarh, where Hindi is widely understood and used in business. It is a weaker fit with older or rural callers, who may answer in a Punjabi the agent cannot follow. Test with a sample of your list, read the transcripts, and route leads who clearly prefer Punjabi to your own team.
What makes Punjabi hard for voice AI?
+
Tone. Punjabi uses pitch to tell apart words that otherwise sound alike, which most Indian-language voice systems are not built for. Add regional variety between Majhi, Doabi and Malwai speech, Gurmukhi script for any text, and constant mixing with English and Hindi on study-visa and loan calls, and a convincing Punjabi agent is a separate piece of engineering.
Which Punjab businesses could use Outpero today?
+
Study-abroad and IELTS consultants, whose leads often handle English well; car and two-wheeler dealerships in Ludhiana and Jalandhar; B2B manufacturers taking IndiaMART enquiries in Ludhiana's hosiery and cycle-parts clusters; and real estate in Mohali. The agent calls each lead in Hindi or English within 30 seconds and logs a full transcript and summary.
