Hinglish AI voice agents

Outpero's AI voice agent speaks Hinglish: it opens in Hindi and switches to English the moment the caller does — mid-sentence, in the same voice, with no hand-off to another system or request to repeat. That is how most urban North Indian business calls actually sound, and the agent calls each new lead within 30 seconds, from ₹5/min.

No census counts Hinglish; it is the everyday register of urban speakers drawn from Hindi's 528 million first-language speakers (Census 2011)

Why Hinglish is hard for voice AI

Hinglish is not Hindi with a few English nouns. Callers switch at the word level ('main kal visit karunga'), the phrase level ('budget around fifty lakh hai') and the sentence level, often inside one breath. English words take Hindi grammar — 'confirm kar diya', 'cancel ho gaya' — and English verbs pick up Hindi gender agreement. A system that treats each switch as a new language either stalls, mishears, or replies in the wrong one; one that ignores English sounds like a textbook.

What Outpero does in Hinglish

Hinglish is how Outpero's Hindi agent works by default — there is no separate mode to turn on. The agent opens in Hindi and follows the caller into English mid-sentence, in the same voice, so a caller who mixes the two is never asked to choose. It has no per-dialect training: a Hinglish caller from Patna and one from Gurugram get the same neutral Hindi-English register.

By use

Five ways to use a Hinglish AI voice agent

Hinglish AI calling agent

A Hinglish AI calling agent rings a new lead within 30 seconds and talks the way the lead texts: 'Hi, aapne abhi form fill kiya tha na?' It opens in Hindi, follows into English the moment the lead does, and can book a visit or demo into your calendar while still on the line.

Hinglish voice bot

A Hinglish voice bot is the opposite of a 'Hindi ke liye 1 dabayein' menu bot. The caller speaks freely, switches language mid-sentence and interrupts, and the agent keeps the thread. Outpero's Hindi agent works this way by default; there is no second bot to maintain for the English half of a sentence.

Hinglish AI receptionist

A Hinglish AI receptionist answers inbound calls to a clinic, showroom or coaching centre in whatever register the caller opens with. Someone saying 'appointment chahiye for tomorrow' gets a booked slot instead of a language question. When a person is needed, the call is transferred to your team.

Hinglish IVR replacement

Hinglish IVR replacement removes 'English ke liye 2 dabayein' from the start of the call. The caller says what they want, such as 'meri EMI date change karni hai', and the agent handles or routes it. Nobody has to guess which key a two-language menu expects.

Hinglish AI telecalling

Hinglish AI telecalling is a bulk campaign over an uploaded CSV, with calling windows, auto-retries and DND screening. North Indian lists mix Hindi-first and English-first contacts, so one campaign can serve both without splitting the sheet by language. Each connected minute is billed from Rs 5.

How it opens the call

Hi, मैं Urban Fit Gym से Priya बोल रही हूँ — आपने अभी Instagram पे free trial के लिए form fill किया था, कल morning का slot book कर दूँ?

“Hi, this is Priya from Urban Fit Gym — you just filled the form for a free trial on Instagram. Shall I book a slot for tomorrow morning?”

Best Hinglish AI voice agent: how to judge one

What to testHow to test it
A switch inside one sentenceSay 'Mujhe site visit Sunday ko karni hai but budget thoda tight hai.' The transcript should keep both languages intact, and the reply should answer both parts: the Sunday visit and the budget worry.
English nouns under Hindi grammarTry 'confirm kar diya', 'cancel ho gaya' and 'cancel mat karna'. The negation sits in the Hindi verb; check that the agent saves 'do not cancel' rather than just spotting the word cancel.
Hindi counting words next to English digitsSay 'pachas lakh', 'fifty lakh', 'dedh sau' and 'dhai hazaar' on separate calls. Words like dedh and dhai trip many systems; confirm the same amount is captured each time.
Fillers and long Hindi namesOpen with 'haan... matlab... woh' before giving a name like Pushpendra or Gagandeep. Fillers should not end the caller's turn, and the captured name should be spelled sensibly in the transcript.
Gendered verbsHindi verbs agree with gender: 'bol rahi hoon' versus 'bol raha hoon'. The agent's own lines should stay consistent with its voice, and it should not assume the caller's gender in its replies.

What you will hear

How Hinglish is spoken across regions

VarietyWhat to expect
Delhi NCR Hinglish (Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad)English-heavy among office workers and Hindi-heavy among market traders. The agent uses one neutral register and follows whichever mix the caller sets; pilot with leads from your own list.
Mumbai Hinglish (Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai)Bambaiya Hindi is clipped and picks up Marathi words. Callers who would rather speak Marathi are better served by the Marathi agent, which also switches into English.
Uttar Pradesh Hinglish (Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj)A politer aap register with Hindi words of Persian origin such as zaroor and bilkul; English comes in for banking, delivery and forms. No per-city training, so test first.
Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh Hinglish (Jaipur, Jodhpur, Indore, Bhopal)Local words and a slower pace. Trade, jewellery and gold-loan callers often speak Hindi-first, with English reserved for numbers and product names; sample a few dozen calls before scaling.

Hinglish AI voice agent or Hinglish text to speech?

A text-to-speech or voice-over tool reads a script written in advance, so a reply like 'haan, par Friday nahi, next week karo' changes nothing: the message plays on. A voice agent hears the switch, understands that Friday is out and next week is in, and updates the booking. Voice broadcast is a fixed message played to a list and then the call ends; it is not an AI conversation.

Questions people ask

Do I need to choose between a Hindi and an English agent?

+

No. Choose Hindi and the agent handles Hinglish on its own: it opens in Hindi and moves into English the moment the caller does, mid-sentence, in the same voice. Choose English only if your list is English-first — for example SaaS buyers or study-abroad applicants — since the Hindi agent already covers callers who mix the two.

What does a Hinglish sales call actually sound like?

+

Something like: 'Haan, maine form fill kiya tha, but abhi budget thoda flexible hai — kya aap weekend pe site visit arrange kar sakte ho?' Two languages, one thought. A good agent answers in the same mix, picks up 'weekend' and 'site visit' as the important bits, and books the slot in your calendar rather than asking which language the caller would prefer.

Will the agent switch fully to English if the caller does?

+

Yes. If a caller answers entirely in English — common with corporate buyers in Gurugram or Noida — the agent switches to English in the same voice and carries on without a transfer or a pause. The summary, sentiment and custom fields you asked it to capture come out the same either way, in the dashboard and at your webhook.

Which businesses need a Hinglish calling agent most?

+

Any North Indian business whose customers speak the way they text: real estate in Gurugram, Noida and Lucknow; coaching institutes in Delhi and Kota; D2C brands confirming COD orders; insurance and loan follow-ups; gyms and salons booking trials. In all of them, an agent that insists on pure Hindi or pure English sounds robotic within seconds.

How do I check Hinglish handling before going live?

+

Sign up at app.outpero.com for 50 free credits, roughly ten minutes at ₹5/min. Call your own number and talk the way your customers do — half Hindi, half English, with a price in lakhs and a date like 'next Tuesday'. Read the transcript afterwards to see what was captured. There is no setup fee and no contract, so testing costs nothing beyond credits.

How much does a Hinglish AI voice agent cost?

+

Outpero has no setup fee and no monthly base fee — you pay only for connected talk time, from ₹5 per minute (1 credit = ₹1, credits never expire), plus ₹649/month for a dedicated calling number. The price is the same in every language.

What is the best Hinglish AI voice agent?

+

The best Hinglish AI voice agent is the one that passes your own test on your own callers. Check a switch inside one sentence; english nouns under Hindi grammar; hindi counting words next to English digits. Outpero is a specialist in regional-language voice AI and publishes its price, but it is the vendor writing this page, so run the same tests on any shortlist.
