Bengali AI voice agents

Outpero does not speak Bengali yet. Today the agent can call Bengali-speaking markets in Hindi or Indian English, which many Kolkata business callers handle comfortably, but it is not the right fit for customers who are only comfortable in Bengali. Outpero's live languages are Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and English.

Why Bengali is hard for voice AI

Bengali has a three-level pronoun system — 'apni', 'tumi', 'tui' — and getting it wrong on a sales call is a real offence. The inherent vowel is pronounced as a rounded 'o', so Hindi-trained systems mispronounce even shared words. Everyday spoken Bengali differs from the older literary register, West Bengal and Bangladeshi speech differ, and Kolkata callers mix in English and Hindi, especially in trade and finance.

What to use today

Outpero has no Bengali voice today and makes no claim otherwise. What works now: for Kolkata lists that are corporate, IT, B2B or drawn from Hindi-speaking trading communities, the Hindi or Indian English agent often fits, and the Hindi agent switches to English when the caller does. For retail, healthcare or small-town callers who expect Bengali, a human telecaller remains the better choice for now.

Outpero’s live languages are Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and English.

What a Bengali call sounds like

নমস্কার, আমি Sunrise Homes থেকে Priya বলছি — আপনি এইমাত্র আমাদের 2BHK project-এর জন্য enquiry করেছিলেন, দু'মিনিট কথা বলা যাবে?

“Namaskar, this is Priya from Sunrise Homes — you just made an enquiry about our 2BHK project. Could we talk for two minutes?”

Questions people ask

Can Outpero call my Kolkata leads in Bengali?

+

Not yet. Outpero's live languages are Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and Indian English, and Bengali is not among them. If your Kolkata leads are comfortable in Hindi or English — common in corporate, IT, B2B and Burrabazar trade — those agents can call them today. If your customers expect Bengali, do not force another language on them.

Is it acceptable to call Bengali speakers in Hindi?

+

Sometimes, but be careful. Many Kolkata business callers speak Hindi comfortably, and English is widely used in offices. But language is a matter of pride in Bengal, and older or small-town callers may find a Hindi call off-putting. Test with a small batch, read the transcripts and summaries, and keep a human telecaller on Bengali-preferred leads.

What makes Bengali hard for voice AI?

+

Three things show up on calls. The apni-tumi-tui pronoun levels must be right, because a misjudged 'tumi' to an elderly customer sounds disrespectful. The rounded inherent vowel means voices trained on Hindi pronounce shared words wrongly. And Kolkata speech mixes Bengali, Hindi and English, so recognition has to cope with all three inside one sentence.

Will Outpero add Bengali?

+

Outpero does not announce launch dates for languages it has not shipped, and this page will not guess one. The live list today is Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and English. If Bengali is essential to your business, a human team is the right call for those leads; in the meantime, you can test Hindi and English on the part of your list that is comfortable with them.

Which Bengal businesses could use Outpero today in Hindi or English?
